Corfu Collection: When Greek beauty becomes a jewel
Immersed in the Ionian Sea, Majorica's Corfu collection is a tribute to one of Greece's most beloved and historic islands.
The collection captures the vibrant hues of the Ionian Sea that surrounds the island. The textures and beautiful transparency of the sea waters are represented thanks to the use of hand-blown Murano glass. Organic Majorica pearls and rustic braided metal bring tradition to a unique jewel. The collection is composed of pearl necklaces , pearl earrings and pearl rings , always together with the charm of Murano glass.
With Corfu, we wanted to capture the essence of the island and that is why we have used green tones as a symbol of the vast olive groves, turquoise representing the sea, shades of ochre earth, as well as brown tones representing the island's fortifications and its 40 churches.
This Greek island was historically a favourite destination for European royalty until the 20th century. Empress Sissi of Austria and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany both visited the island. These dignitaries enjoyed strolling along its stunning coastline and admiring the crystal-clear waters. Murano glass, handcrafted organic Majorica pearls and 18-carat gold-plated brass evoke memories of such a majestic setting.

Corfu, the island of Poseidon
Since the birth of Greek mythology, Kérkyra (or Kórkyra) has been deeply intertwined with Greece's past. The island was named after Poseidon himself, in honour of his beloved Corsica, daughter of Asopus and Metope. From their union was born a son named Phaeax, who went on to become the eponymous hero of the Phaeacians, who would inhabit this very land centuries later. It is incredible how the romantic gesture of a god has left an indelible mark on history.
Corfu, the famous Greek island of battles and beautiful scenery, is home to a multitude of fortresses. Strategically placed at every corner, two of them even surround the capital, making it the only Kastropolis (Καστρόπολις, “city of castles”) in Greece officially declared by the government. This remarkable history adds an extra layer of charm and intrigue to this picturesque town.
Venice maintained its hold on Corfu for centuries, withstanding several Ottoman sieges until the Napoleonic Wars, when it fell under British rule. Subsequently, in 1864, the American protectorate of the Ionian Islands was created, which was later returned to Greece under the Treaty of London.
In 2007, UNESCO inscribed the ancient town of Corfu on its prestigious World Heritage List.
And with Venetian blown glass, the Corfu capsule by Majorica recreates bouquets of plants from the 6,000 species present in this paradise and recalls the sea stones of its countless beaches. A tribute to a great legacy that you can now enjoy with this collection.
